EVENTS THAT ROCKED 2012...cont - THE NIGERIAN GOSPEL MUSIC AWARDS

The Nigerian Gospel Music  Awards(NGMA) was a wonderful event the Gospel scene has ever had. The event took lace at the NECA centre on Friday 24th of December 2012.

It was the 2nd edition of the NGMA and it was a success with a huge range of gospel artiste making the event colourful.

But then, the gospel industry must realise that things should be done to standard. Things should not be taken for granted at all in the name of  'GOSPEL'. Yes, it is a known fact that not a lot of money is pumped into the industry, but, some of these things are not about the money but the bad mentality that its JUST GOSPEL and it can be done anyhow. Some issues must be addressed.

VOTING: its very wonderful to know u can register an email address and vote once, but it is very sad to know also that the second means of voting(which allows u vote multiple times)is  by sending SMS to 0809xxxxxxx a PRIVATE NUMBER! WHY! That is the definition of poor planning. A short code should just have been provide eg 1234. Using a personal line was just out of it. No secular awards will do that, they will just stick to the Website PERIOD!

FASHION: we must give kudos to some people for looking so smart and radiant, combining the right colours. Artiste like Eben looked extremely smart in a rock star kinda way,lyn looking gorgeous but then it was not easy to understand some other artiste. God's own was looking really awkward for a gospel artiste in a really short tube dress that was just too revealing. And we must say Gbenga Oke's white and red combination was not just it for him that day. Maybe because christmas was in the air, but its still no excuse to look like santa for an awards.

AWARDS PRESENTATION: now, the initial stage of the presentation of the awards was just perfect, when d presenters did not talk much and d screen did the bulk of the work. After awhile that stopped, and some presenters just made sure we got fed up. People like DJ Gosperalla who came up only to start talking about how good he is and Nnenna (presenter of Nnenna and friends) who came out to talk to everybody sitted  like she was talking to her kids in a concert.

We can go on and on but the main point here is to help us realise that we must get it right in this industry. We must be the best and the envy of others. We are sure 2013 will be better.
